Abstract

The study examines the impacts of radio as veritable tool for grassroots development in Federal Capital territory Abuja. The study is predicated in the research of using radio programme called “grass root” on human Right radio as a yardstick to measure how effective radio programme can be in developing grassroots most especially in the selected area council in Federal Capital Territory. It adopted survey method using primary and secondary sources with sample size of 200 drawn from the selected area councils. Findings include “grass root” programme is useful and has enormous impact in grassroots development. Radio can be strategically used to reach the rural populace. The recommendations are effective needs assessment, effective use of radio to reach the grassroots given their low literacy level, for adequate awareness, sensitization and mobilization for development.
