Abstract

This paper examines language as a medium of communication and expression one which is both central to and pervasive in the ream of human thought. It influences human reasoning, determines the way we look at the world and sharpens our actions. Since the attainment of independence, the issue of corruption has been the most serious national problem. It has become endemic and has assumed a frightening dimension. The situation has degenerated to a major factor that is encouraging this deadly virus with its use of various registers. It is in the light of the above, that this paper intends to explore and presents the various language registers used describing corruption in Nigeria and to propose a panacea through which if implemented holistically, it could help curb its menace in Nigeria.
