| dc.description.abstract | This study examined the contributions of family environment to adolescent's school adjustment. The study adopted a crosssectional survey to obtain firsthand information on family environment and adjustment among school adolescents. One hundred and twenty (120) participants were selected using simple random technique to participate in the study consisting of sixty two (62) males and fifty eight (58) females of Asasul Secondary School, Keffi (Junior Secondary School Section). Their ages ranged from 10 -18 years and they responded to two separate instruments: family environment scale and Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire. The result using Pearson Product moment Correlation showed that: there is a weak and statistically not significant relationship between family environment and adolescent's school adjustment: (120), -139, P<0.01, NS. The finding was discussed in terms of cultural influences on socialization resulting in differential expectations in school going adolescents and its consequences on their adjustment. Recommendations were offered towards improving the school system. | en_US |
