INFLUENCE OF SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT ON SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF IN KEFFI LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF NASARAWA STATE

Abstract

This research seek to investigate Influence Of School Environment On Senior Secondary School Students Academic Performance in Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. School environment is an alterable variable which can directly influence cognitive and affective outcomes. Although it is not the only variable academic performance of student, it is a very important one. For the purpose of this study, school environment variable considered constitute school location, school physical building, classroom conditions, laboratory adequacy, availability of qualified teachers. The study adopted a descriptive survey and it covers a population of six (6) Government Senior Secondary School in Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa States, with 120 respondents randomly selected for the research work. Five (5) teachers and fifteen (15) final year students from each of the schools. School Environment and Student Academic Performance Questionnaire (SESAPQ) structured by the researcher was used for data collection. The result revealed that there is a significant relationship between school environment and students' academic performance in secondary school. Recommendation based on the result obtained was then highlighted,
