dc.description.abstract | This study investigated the effect of burial ceremonies on the berea\>ed and its counseling implications. The research area of the study was the Bette people of Obudu Local Government Area ofC ross River State, Nigeria. A simple of200 respondents (adult male and females) were selected through the purposive sampling technique for the study. The researcher constructed a questionnaire which was used for data collection. Simple percentages were used for data analyses. The result showed that 85.2% responses were positive to the fact that burial ceremonies have psychological effect on the bereaved. The result also showed that burial ceremonies affect the bereaved economically (70.9%). It also revealed that burial ceremonies affect the. bereaved physically. Finally, the result also showed that 90.3% responses were positive with the fact that burial ceremonies affect the bereaved socially. Based on the findings, it was recommended that Education and reorientation of the people is highly necessary to correct this anomaly. Counseling intervention strategies were proffered and this included the fact that the bereaved (CLINTS) should be taught to actualize and accept the reality of death/bereavement, identify, focus on and direct positive attitudes towards bereavement and to adopt conventional ways to celebratef unerals amongothers. | en_US |
