Abstract
The current Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) outbreak has affected over 200 countries, including Nigeria. It is one of the most massive respiratory disease outbreaks affecting several countries simultaneously, and a novel strain of Coronavirus (SARS-CoV 2) has been identified as the causative agent. This study examined the impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on food security in Nigeria. The study further looked at food security and production during the COVID-19 Pandemic and how people adjust their feeding habit in the era of the Pandemic; and lastly, the study investigated thefactors affecting food security in Nigeria as a result of the CO VID-19 Pandemic. This study employed a survey research design. It made use ofa questionnaire to determine the opinions, attitudes and perceptions ofpeople by sampling 100 respondents out of a population of 134 in Asokoro Abuja Nigeria. Hence, the result showed that COVID-19 Pandemic has an impact on food security and production. However, no effect on the feeding habits of Nigerians even thou there are factors affecting food security in Nigeria. The paper concluded that there is need for the government to set up a food assistance program, conservational planning, as well as encourage household farming to avert food insecurity in Nigeria.
