Abstract
Political culture is the product of history> of both the political system and the individual members of the system. It is rooted in public events and private experience. As individuals interact with one another, they generate ideas, expectations, attitudes and belief about their common activities. These cultural ideas come to be associated with particular patterns of social behavior. Such sub-cultures may be politically consequential, as was the case of the minorities sub-cultures in the USA Presidential election of2008. This paper examines the effects of political culture on the America's democratic process particularly the 2008 Presidential election. The liberal theory is applied as tool of analysis. The paper argues that sub-cultures played vital role in the emergence of Barack Obama as president of America in 2008. It recommends, among other things, that imbibing the culture of tolerance, justice and fairness in politics promote democracy.
