Chemistry, 'the backbone of chemical industry' is mainly concerned with providing the product, materials and proc^^ that support human needs and also make life meaningful. The discoveries made in the chemistry have brought improved standards of living in 'Developed Nations'; increased standard of living in developing countries, a defined modem life as well as maintain a sustainable environment. Chemistry is more than just the science conceit with atoms, molecules and pure substances; it is also an integrationist's science concerned with organized mole* systems. Diseases can be conquered through a clean, healthy and safe environment, reduction in poverty and equines through the use of sustainable chemistry as a tool for implementing sustainable development. Chemists have responsibility to serve the public interest in the fields of health, safety and the environmenten_US
