MANAGING POLITICS IN NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES' FOR EFFECTIVE PRODUCTIVITY

ct Politics is a political affair of a country that centers on acquisition of power, control and governance in a given society. Administration is concerned with the decision making of top echelon workers or management force that determines the spheres of operation of any given society, institution or industry.In the administration of any institution especially educational institutions like Nigerian universities, there are politics that are shared or exercise in a university environment. Managing these politics will determine high or low productivity of all in the university environment which include management, academic staff non-academic staff and students. However, there are many factors that that can limit effective management of politics in the administration of universities for effective productivity such as management factor, academic staff factor, non- academic staff factor and students. This position paper provide for the recommendation of sensitizing those occupying management positions in university institutions, orientating academic staff, non-academic staff and students on the ways and necessity of managing politics for effective administration and productivity in Nigerian universities.
