Abstract

The importance of translation in nation building cannot be overemphasized. It has become one of the most effective ways of integration of knowledge into various areas. In the context of national development, translation is an important aspect- and component of language learning because understanding each other's language,-will bring about mutual understanding thereby promoting peace in conflict areas. As the world has become a global village and internet has further facilitated a better communication system, the role of translation has been widened beyond our expectation. This study contributes to knowledge for the fact that it points out how translation holds paramount importance for exchange of ideas and thoughts among people belonging to different regions, languages and cultures in a multilingual and multi-cultural country like Nigeria. This paper aims at impacting new knowledge in the public on how translation can be used to promote peaceful. It gives intellectual facts on how translation serves as a panacea for peaceful co-existence among nations.
