Abstract
The primary purposes and objectives of the Code of Conduct Bureau are to develop and maintain a high moral standard in the conduct of government business and to guarantee that the activities and conduct of public officers correspond to the highest standards of public morality; and accountability. This study analyzed the relationship between Nigeria's Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) and Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT). This includes receiving assets declarations from public officers in accordance with the provisions of this Act; examining these declarations; receiving complaints about non-compliance with or breach of the Act; and, if the Bureau deems it necessary, referring such complaints to the Code of Conduct Tribunal established by Section 20 of the Act in accordance with Section 20 to 25 of the Act. Using a qualitative research method involving secondary data gathering, the study found out that the Bureau and Tribunal mandates or aims and objectives are adequate for proper functioning to check the systematic corruption in the public sector of the economy by public servants for meaningful progress. Thus, .the study recommended that, there should be a deliberate review of the Bureau and Tribunal Annual Budgeting Allocation upward to enable the sisters anti-corruption organizations hire more qualify manpower, review the pay package of staff upward, address the problem of office accommodation, training and retraining of staff at all levels and acquisition of adequate operational vehicles and 1CT internet, facilities for e-transaction of their business. Also, there should be a stijfer penalty for the public officers that are dishonest in the discharge of their responsibility by readdressing the constitutional mandate of the sisters institutions and lastly, the Bureau and Tribunal should be free from political interference by way of autonomy be granted to them
