Item Open Access PHYSICO-CHEMICAL QUALITY OF GROUNDWATER SOURCES IN SELECTED COMMUNITIES OF ODOGBOLU LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF SOUTH-WEST NIGERIA(Department of Industrial Chemistry, Nasarawa State University Keffi, 2009-04-22) J. O, Awokoya.; A, Osinaike.Samples of well and borehole waters were collected from Ijagun, Ijeleand Imaweje communities in Odogbolu local government area of Ogun state in south-west Nigeria. The samples were analyzed physico-chemically using standard methods to ascertain the polability of these sources of water. (A total of five groundwater samples comprising four boreholes and one well were monitored). Results from this study revealed that 95 % of the physicochemical parameters investigated conformed to WHO standards for drinking water while 5% showed a little deviation. It was therefore recommended that a comprehensive survey that will involve both the physico-chetnical and bacteriological analysis be conducted on all the sources of groundwater available in all the villages where most students reside. Also, the medical records of the students in relation to the source of water intake be conducted in order to compliment the result of this study.
