Item Open Access RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MANAGEMENT OF PUPILS WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES AND THEIR ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE IN KEFFI LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF NASARAWA STATE(Department Of Educational Foundations, Faculty Of Education, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, 2019-09-19) Aminu, Danladi Abubakar; Bala, Sani Abdullahi; Yakubu, IshakaThe study adopted descriptive survey research'design. The population of the study consists of 20, 486 pupils from 32 public primary schools in Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The sample for the investigation consists of 400 pupils from 5 primary schools through simple random sampling procedure. The instruments used for data gathering were Pupils Learning Disabilities Inventory (PLDI) and Proforma. The pupil's learning disabilities inventory was used to identify pupils with learning disabilities, the type of their disabilities and the extent of their disabilities. The Proforma was used to collect information on their academic performance which was used to understand how it relates with their conditions. The researcher established logical validity indices of 0.83 and 0.81 for PLDI and Proforma respectively and reliabilities of 0.79 and 0.89 for PLDI and Proforma through test-retest method of estimating reliability to compute coefficient of internal consistency. Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient was used to the hypotheses. The findings of this study indicated that there is a high positive correlation between reading disabilities and pupils' academic performance by 0.75.
