Item Open Access Audience Perception and Involvement in Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily Programme: A Case of Jos Residents(Department of Mass Communication, Nasarawa State University Keffi, 2021-09-09) Josiah, Sabo Kente; Lucas, Bernard DiesukThis study examined audience perception and involvement in Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme, using Jos Residents as a case study. Since one of the principal processes of communication is feedback, it is important to study how this.element plays out in every . media message especially those that serve to meet the educative and informative needs of the public. It is in this Sght that this paper sought to expound on the concepts of perception and participation in Sunrise Daily aired on Channels TV, notwithstanding the array of literature that abound in the study of audience perception and participation in ' programmes. The study used survey approach and purposive sampling technique to select 126 viewers of the programme in Jos as respondents. The findings reveal that the timing of the programme is not favourable, the programme features more of the upper class in the society as well as Presenters usually deciding the messages to read and the calls to pick. v’ The study concluded that although Sunrise Daily focuses on national and international issues, diverse views are very important, especially when they are expressed through the media. Based on this, the study v-.‘recommends that Channels TV should review the time-belt for this programme to allow more viewership and participation
