Item Open Access CONFLICT RESOLUTION STRATEGIES FOR ADMINISTRATORS IN COLLEGES OF EDUCATION IN NORTH-CENTRAL NIGERIA(Department Of Educational Foundations, Faculty Of Education, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, 2018-05-18) Aminu, Danladi Abubakar; Loko, Grace Ifeoma; Yakubu, Ibrahim AgwadaDescriptive survey research design was used in the study. The population of the study consisted of3 949 (3 731 Lecturers and 218 Administrators) of Colleges of Education in North Central Geo-political Zone, Nigeria. The sample of the study comprised 466 (372 Lecturers and 94 Administrators) were selected through stratified random sampling technique. Also, purposive sampling technique was used to select lecturers and administrators in cognizance with institution, gender and ownership of institution (3 Federal, 4 State and 4 Private Colleges of Education). The instrument used for data gathering was a structured questionnaire called Conflict and Strategies Questionnaires for Administration (CSQA). The logical consensus of the experts gave 0.72 index of rational validity for the CSSQA and the reliability index of 0.77 was obtained using Cronbach coefficient alpha method. Data collected were analyzed using Descriptive statistics to answer the research questions and Chi-square statistic was used to test null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Findings indicated that conflict resolution strategies by administrators of public Colleges of Education differ significantly from those of private Colleges of Education. It was concluded that conflict resolution strategies by administrators of public Colleges of Education differ significantlyfrom those ofprivate Colleges of Education. The study recommended the following among others that the Government should organize seminars and given interval to Education and draw the attention of College administrators on these basic issues that causes conflict.Item Open Access Relationship between School Plant Planning and Secondary School Students' Academic Performance in Nasarawa-West Senatorial Zone of Nasarawa State, Nigeria(Department of Educational Foundation, Nasarawa State University Keffi, 2018-10-03) Aminu, Danladi Abubakar; Osu, Tanimu; Yakubu, Ibrahim AgwadaThe study adopted the descriptive survey research design. The population of the study comprised 53,773 secondary school students in Nasarawa West Senatorial Zone of Nasarawa State. The study adopted multistage stratified random sampling procedure to obtain sample size of 200 students from two Local Government Areas of Nasarawa West educational Zone of Nasarawa State. Two instruments tagged; “School Planning Questionnaire” (SPPQ) and “Students' Academic Performance Inventory” (SAP1) were used for data collection, The researchers established logical validity indices of 0.69 and 0.75 for SPPQ and SAPI respectively and reliabilities of 0.70 and 0.78 for SPPQ and SAPI through Cronbach Alpha method of estimating reliability. Descriptive statistic was used to answer the research questions while Pearson Product-Moment Correlation (PPMC) was to test the null hypotheses i-iii at 0.05 level of significance. Findings indicated that students' academic performance was significantly related to instructional space planning, administrative space planning, circulation space planning. It was therefore recommended that . government should continue to lay more emphasis on school plant planning particularly in the areas of instructional space planning, administrative space planning and circulation space planning in order to improve students' academic performance.
