This paper discussed the importance of bibliotherapy application in library and information services and reveals the effectiveness of Bibliotherapy to library customers with mental disorders. Research indicates that Bibliotherapy effectively treats various pathological symptoms that prevail in major depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, grief and trauma. It primarily focused on the transition of academic libraries from mainly analogue to hybrid. The paper traces the outbreak of Covid-19 from Wuhan to Nigeria and the subsequent disruption of academic activities in Nigerian Universities and Libraries. It went further to discuss E-learning in the Academic Library, its benefits and the expectation of the e-learner on the academic Librarian. E-learning plat forms such as CMS, MLeaming, Library Websites, YouTube, Pinterest, Podcasts, Instant Messaging (IM), Rich Site Summary (RSS), Linkedln, Skype, and Google+, MySpace, Library thing, Ning were highlighted. The paper concludes that librarians and academicians ought to work together to assess and give links to legitimate web assets identified with projects and courses of instruction, and the Library should conduct online tutorials for improving the information searching skills of the e-learners and, by so doing, contributing greatly to improving e-learning in Nigeria.Item Unknown Effect of Ethnic Conflict on the Information Sharing and Socio-Economic Development in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Nigeria(Department Of Library And Information Science, Faculty Of Education, Nasarawa State University, Keffi., 2021-08-03) Adamu, Yahaya; Abubakar, Mohammed Zaharadeen; Wada, Hafsat MohammedThe study sought to investigate the effect of ethnic conflict on the information sharing and sociocultural development in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, the study had one research question, and one hypothesis respondents were eighty-five, comprising thirty-five people from Bassa ethnic community and fifty people from Egbura ethnic community. Five rating scale structured questionnaire was used for data collection using face to face method. Eightyfive copies of the questionnaire were properly filledand returned for use. Data collected were coded using Statistical Packages of Social Sciences (SPSS). The bio-data of the respondents were analyzed using frequency and percentages. Research questions were answered with mean and standard deviation, and the null hypothesis was tested using chi-square because it is the suitable tool used in testing effect in the research study. In answering research questions, items with a mean score of 3.0 and above were considered agree, and less than 2.5 disagree. In testing null hypotheses, if the probability value is equal to or greater than 0.05, the null hypothesis was retained. On the other hand, if the probability value is less than 0.05, the null hypothesis was rejected. The findings of the study revealed that ethnic conflict negatively affects the sociocultural stability and peaceful relation between Bassa and Egbura communities. This resulted in cases of possession of illegal arms and weapons among the members of the conflicting tribes resulting in an increased rate of crime, tension, and state of insecurity; thwarted commercial activities in the area; increased lawlessness and social vices; high level of distrust among members of conflicting communities; and increase in internally displaced persons. The government and other stakeholders in Bassa and Egbura ethnic communities should design policies that will embrace, capture and respect everybody's opinion and ensure equality in the distribution of the available social amenities and other infrastructures.Item Unknown Utilisation Of Elsevier Science Direct Database In Nasarawa State University E-Library, Keffi From 2018-2020(Department Of Library And Information Science, Faculty Of Education, Nasarawa State University, Keffi., 2021-08-07) Wada, Hafsat MohammedThis study explores the use of the Elsevier Science Direct Database in Nasarawa State University E-Library, Keffi. The study highlighted users' patronage, consulted resources, the importance and usefulness of the resources in the academic environment Content analysis was the method adopted. The data obtained from the analysis indicates that journals are the most widely consulted resources compared to others, and there is low patronage of the database by the academic community. The paper concludes that the factors that are limiting the maximum utilization of direct science databases are slow downloading, nonavailability of the full text of some articles, lack of training and unfamiliarity with the database, problems of non-availability of essential journals, lack of knowledge in searching, slow speed of the Internet, limitation of night working hours, additional irrelevant information, the inadequacy of computer terminals and therefore recommends that the Library should be subscribed to more journals, more publicity/awareness created for other resources through outreach, instruction, orientation, and training activities at the same time unrestricted access to the database should be provided to all users irrespective of their location on and off campus as ways of improving the usage.
