ADJUSTMENT AMONG JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN KEFFI, NASARAWA STATE, NIGERIA(Department of Psychology, Nasarawa State University Keffi, 2018-03-14) Tafida, Abubakar Musa; Shafa, A. Yunus; Oshishepo, Sani A.; Dahiru, Hadiza IbrahimThis study examined the contributions of family environment to adolescent's school adjustment. The study adopted a crosssectional survey to obtain firsthand information on family environment and adjustment among school adolescents. One hundred and twenty (120) participants were selected using simple random technique to participate in the study consisting of sixty two (62) males and fifty eight (58) females of Asasul Secondary School, Keffi (Junior Secondary School Section). Their ages ranged from 10 -18 years and they responded to two separate instruments: family environment scale and Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire. The result using Pearson Product moment Correlation showed that: there is a weak and statistically not significant relationship between family environment and adolescent's school adjustment: (120), -139, P<0.01, NS. The finding was discussed in terms of cultural influences on socialization resulting in differential expectations in school going adolescents and its consequences on their adjustment. Its nature and scope may vary from society to society, and at different times even within the same social system. Based on the profuse nature and character of corruption and fraud in contemporary society, there is need for understanding and appreciation of psychological theories and models of fraud and corruption in society. First, Corruption is an abnormal behavior, it is both overt and covert, i.e. a person who commit fraud, first think about it, reflect about it, and plan for that (this are covert processes) he or she carry out the act i.e., implement the content of his thought (overt behavior).secondly, as an abnormal behavior a person who commit fraud must have been induced by some psychological factors which includes his or her personality, family child upbringing and socialization including the influence of the environment. This psychological model forms the discussion in the analysis of the psychological and models of corruption and fraud which is the focus of this pa per.
