Item Open Access INTERNAL DISPLACEMENT AND HUMAN SECURITY IN KARSHI INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS (IDPs) CAMP, KARU LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF NASARAWA STATE, NIGERIA(Department of Sociology, Nasarawa State University Keff ., 2021-02-05) Mamman, Mathew Samuel; Attah, Amana Philip; Orlaade, Abugul PhilipInternal displacement in Nigeria is a recurring and large-scale phenomenon and has affected most of the country’s 36 states. This paper examines internal displacement and Human security in Karshi Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) Camp, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Nigeria. The social survey research design was adopted for this paper. Data were collected using quantitative methods. 493 questionnaires were distributed and 443 retrieved from internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Karshi internally displaced Persons (IDPs) Camp, through cluster and snowball sampling techniques. Technique used in the analysis of data for the paper was the quantitative data analyzed using bivariate analysis for this study. Data collected showed that there is a significant relationship between the causes of internal displacement and armed conflict as the main cause of internal displacement. The paper recommends that it is important for the government to secure the territorial sovereignty of the state and to disband any form of internal aggressions within the country’, other sectors of the economy are also important in safeguarding the existence of the people in the country hence the need to increase budget allocation in critical sectors of the economy. Through the increment of the budget allocation towards these sectors, these would enable easy access and affordability> of services by the citizens.
