Drawing on recent research and case studies, we examine the proliferation of digital repositories with the broader trends of digitization and open access in scholarly communication. The importance of visibility and accessibility in scholarly content cannot be overstated, as evidenced by studies demonstrating scholars' preferences for online access and the positive correlation between accessibility and citation impact.
