    ADMINISTRATIVE BENCHMARKING AS A TOOL FOR ECONOMIC ACHIEVING OBJECTIVE IN NIGERIA

    Policies directed to achieve microeconomic stability and raise the standard of living in Nigeria have never been in short supply. This is evident by the adoptions of several strategies and programmes by successive administration both at federal and state levels. Such strategies includes Vision, 2000, National Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy (NEEDS), Vision 20:2020 etc. Experiences with the policies over time only leaves sore taste as results on ground did show a forward match. This paper examines the use of administrative benchmarking as a tool for achieving economic strategies and objectives in Nigeria. The paper adopted exploratory methodology using secondary data to establish the relationship between the variables of the study. The paper found out that benchmarking has significant positive effect on management of organisations. It is therefore recommended by this paper that any future economic strategy employ for economic management in Nigeria should inculcate the techniques and procedures richly provided in the benchmarking practice.
