Item Open Access ATTITUDE AND PRACTICE OF MODERN FAMILY PLANNING PRACTICE AMONG WOMEN OF REPRODUCTIVE AGE IN KEFFI LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF NASARAWA STATE, NIGERIA(Department of Sociology, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Nasarawa State., 2021-03-01) Gloria, Johnson NnennaThe recent attention drawn to the issue of Modem Family planning practices by International bodies like the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Fund for Population Agency (UNFPA) cannot be over stressed. This study examines the attitude and practices of modem family planning practice among women of reproductive age in Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Nigeria. A social survey design was adopted. A survey of 343 respondents were drawn, using multi-stage sampling techniques involving electoral wards, towns/villages, main streets, houses, households and individuals. Primary and secondary data were utilized in the study. The primary data were generated through the use of questionnaires. The questionnaires were analyzed quantitatively using tables, frequency, percentage and cross tabulation of variables. The results show that the attitude of women of reproductive age towards modem family planning practice is positive and modem family planning has social and economic benefits to the mother and the child. It is based on this that the study recommends that family planning providers should provide accurate, unbiased and essential information about the various contraceptive methods thereby removing the problem of both real and imagined side effects of helping women to make informed choices and there is need for intensify education on modem family planning programmes to adequately cater for women of reproductive age in Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State and Nigeria in general so as to bridge the existing gaps
