Item Open Access INFLUENCE OF ADOLESCENT DELINQUENCY ON CAREER ASPIRATIONS OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN NORTH EAST SENATORIAL DISTRICT OF BENUE STATE(Department of Educational Foundation, Nasarawa State University Keffi, 2015-08-08) Gabriel, Terzungwe Akume; Mayange, Levi Terzungwe; Tseaa, Moses VershimaThis Study examined the influence of adolescent delinquency on career aspiration of secondary school students in North Senatorial District of Benue State. A descriptive survey design was used. The sample consisted of 381 respondents from a population of56.428 students. Two research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. A self developed questionnaire titled: Adolescent delinquency and career aspiration questionnaire (ADODAQ) was administered to respondents. Data collected were analyzed using percentages and Chi-square statistics. The result showed that, bullying and truancy had significant influence on career aspirations of secondary school students. Based on these findings, the researchers recommended individual and group counseling as well as seminars and workshops and career talks to enlighten parents, bullies and targets on the dangers of adolescent's delinquency in general because of the negative influence such behaviours have on career aspiration and choice
