The problem of the study is put in an interrogative form, thus; to what extent has the recruitment policy of the Federal Civil Service Commission, Abuja being implemented? To address this problem, the study adopted the documentary research method where data were generated through documentary evidence from the Federal Civil Service ■ Commission including the Civil Service Hand Book and manuals, journals, researches, bulletins, textbooks and etc. The theory in which this study was anchored on is the system theory which was postulated by David Easton. The data generated were subjected to descriptive analysis using deductive reasoning and presented in a table where inferences where deduced from the findings. The study revealed that the commission has a recruitment policy which stipulates the kind of people to be appointed into the service. On the federal character principle, the recruitment system is intertwined with qualification, experience, skills, ability, and equal representation to all states and zones of the federation. However, it was revealed that consideration of federal character system was not giving priority in some cases. The commission takes into account of merit including ability. Examples are cases where Pilots, Medical Genecology's, Air Craft Engineers among others are needed. Based on the findings, the study recommends that there is an urgent need for the amendment of 1999 constitution to accommodate emerging issues that relate to various competency and experience required in the appointment of Nigerians into Civil Service. It was also suggested that the Federal Civil Service should collaborate with the Federal Character Commission to develop an acceptable guideline for the appointment on federal character basis. The study concludes that professionalism and meritocracy must be the major concern when recruiting into the service, all kinds of unethical methods must be sacrifice as a prerequisite in recruiting staff into the Federal Civil Service.Item Open Access Collective Bargaining as a Strategy for Industrial Conflict Management in Nigeria(Department of Public Adminstration, Nasarawa State University, Keffi., 2022-03-20) Adokwe, Comfort Ayine; Yusuf, Dauda Odonye; Dizaho, Esther KadarkoThe main thrust of this study was to investigate the strength of collective bargaining as a strategy for Industrial conflict management and Industrial harmony among 5 manufacturing Industries randomly sampled In Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. The independent variables were proxied by Bank Size and Operational Efficiency while profitability was represented by Return on Assets (ROA). The study employed correlational research design to examine the effect of bank size and operational efficiency on profitability of the Deposit Money Banks in Nigeria. The Techniques of data analysis employed for the study was the multiple regression technique which was used for data interpretation.lt was established that in spite of the substantial contribution of the banking industry to Nigeria's economy, their profitability is arguably constrained by high operating costs largely occasioned by the establishment and maintenance of more than necessary bank branches especially in remote areas of the country. This study therefore found that bank size is negatively and insignificantly related to profitability of DM Bs in Nigeria while operational efficiency has a positive and significant relationship with bank profitability. The study recommends that bank managers should better employ mobile technology, which reduces operating costs and enhances bank profitability rather than mere expansion of bank branches.Item Open Access Staff Development and Efficiency in Nigeria's Public Sector: A Case Study of Lafia Local Government of Nasarawa State(Department of Public Adminstration, Nasarawa State University, Keffi., 2021-07-06) Adokwe, Comfort Ayine; Dizaho, Esther Kadarko; Yusuf, Dauda OdonyeThe study examined staff development and efficiency in Lafia Local Government of Nasarawa State.
