Item Open Access Counselling Anti-Social Behaviours among Students of Tertiary Institutions for Transformation Aganda in Nigeria(Department of Guidance and Counselling,Nasarawa State University Keffi., 2015-03-10) Mayange, Levi Terzungwe; Ayuba, Iya Haruna. One of the most pressing issues in the minds of people in Nigeria today, as far as students' behaviour is concerned is antisocial activities carried out by our youth. These behaviours affect the quality of the products or graduates of our tertiary institutions, and by extension, the society at large. These antisocial behaviours seem to be militating against the graduation of students that are worthy in character and learning to merit the certificates obtained at the end of their studies. Some of these antisocial behaviour include cultism, drug abuse, examination misconduct, obscene dressing, sexual promiscuity/ harassment and vandaiization, to mention but a few. Each of the above, its causes and likely social and academic implications are explained in this paper It is recommended that the responsibility of preventing or curbing general students' antisocial behaviour is a collective one resting on counsellors, parents, teachers, religious leaders, school authorities and the government. This can be done through appropriate upbringing counseling and necessary sanction for offenders/ culprits.
