Item Open Access Availability and Use of Smartphone Services by Students of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State.(Library and Information Science Department, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, 2018-10-01) Aliyu, AbdulkadirThe study examined the availability and use of smart phone services by students of higher institutions in Kaduna Stale with its main focus on Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. The specific objectives are to; find out the services available or. smart phones used by students; discover which sites the student visit regularly. He study used primary data and selected a sample of320. The study use questionnaire and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics using SPSS version 16.0. The findings of the study revealed that the service mostly used by the students is web browser. The study recommended; that the students should create a balance between mobile use and academics. It is concluded that wrong use of smart phone could result to negative consequences that would affect the academic performance of the students.Item Open Access E-Learning Platforms for COVID-19 Nigerian Academic Libraries(Department Of Library And Information Science, Faculty Of Education, Nasarawa State University, Keffi., 2021-08-01) Aliyu, Abdulkadir; Wada, Hafsat MohammedThe paper discusses the concept of E-learning which is research, learning, and teaching in the digital environment and how Nigerian Academic Libraries can support it in the COVI-19 global pandemic period. It primarily focused on the transition of academic libraries from mainly analogue to hybrid. The paper traces the outbreak of Covid-19 from Wuhan to Nigeria and the subsequent disruption of academic activities in Nigerian Universities and Libraries. It went further to discuss E-learning in the Academic Library, its benefits and the expectation of the e-learner on the academic Librarian. E-learning plat forms such as CMS, MLeaming, Library Websites, YouTube, Pinterest, Podcasts, Instant Messaging (IM), Rich Site Summary (RSS), Linkedln, Skype, and Google+, MySpace, Library thing, Ning were highlighted. The paper concludes that librarians and academicians ought to work together to assess and give links to legitimate web assets identified with projects and courses of instruction, and the Library should conduct online tutorials for improving the information searching skills of the e-learners and, by so doing, contributing greatly to improving e-learning in Nigeria.
