    The importance of reading in the development of an individual can never be over emphasised. Counselling as a tool for enhancing reading is what investing in. Education that does not encourage and challenge students to read has a negative impact on the student and the society at large. The essence of teaching is learning, so also the essence of reading is learning for self development and society. To bring about quality education students and teachers should show interest in reading. Improvement in reading is a need as it will help improve learning in every area of the curriculum and also develop the learner's personality. The counsellor can help students to see reading as fun. 'Reading be done not only in the school but also at home and should not be during examination time. This paper examines the benefits of reading, reading problems, characteristics of a mature reader, and step for effective reading, counselling to enhance reading, recommendation arid conclusion.

    Learning is conscious and unconscious act that takes place it death. The aim of teaching is learning. The role of family in the learning of each member in the home is very important. Most of the factors that affects a child learning comes from the family if not properly manage. Learning is a need and we learn until we enter grave. To stop learning is to stop living meaningfully. One of the most important reasons for teaching is learning. The teacher can be sure of teaching when the student has learnt. There are many factors that prevent learning from taking place. This paper discussed the concept of learning disabilities, causes of learning disabilities, family involvement in managing learning disabilities, recommendation and conclusion
