Item Open Access PRINCIPALS' POLITICS OF SCHOOL LEADERSHIP AND ITS IMPACT ON STUDENTS ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE FOR NATIONAL COHESION OF SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN NASARAWA STATE(Department of Educational Foundations, Nasarawa State University Keffi, 2020-09-22) Sani, Yakubu; Stephen, Usman; Akponimisingha, Ekoi Osuobenihis study examined the principals’ politics of school leadership and its impact on students’ academic performance for national cohesion of secondary school in Nasarawa State. Two (2) research questions and two (2) hypotheses were formulated and tested for the study Descriptive survey design was adopted for study The population of the study was 600 students and 258 teachers and principals representing 20% of the total Population were sampled from three southerndistricts using stratified random sampling. The structured questionnaire developed by the researcher was used to collect data for the study. The instrument used for the data collection of the study was a modified four point- Likert type questionnaire of Strongly Agreed (SA), Agree (A), Disagree (D) and Strongly Disagree (SD). Frequencypercentageand mean and standard deviation were used to analyze the two research questions, while chi-square was used to test the two hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that principals' politics of school leadership on classroom management has significance on students' performance in secondary schools in Nasarawa state and principals' politics of school leadership on school environment has impact on students' performance. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended that Principals' politics of school leadership and classroom management should be a collaborative team work with teachers and principals for daily practices to improve teachers and students performance in schools. Also that capacity building should be organized by government to enrich the principals with the adequate leadership on school environment require for teachers effectiveness in secondary school for effective and productive student's performance.Item Open Access Relationship between Motivation and Teachers’ Job Performance in Public Secondary Schools in Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Nigeria.(Department of Education Management, Nasarawa State University Keffi, 2020-06-03) Sani, Yakubu,; Ayotunde, Adewale Kehinde; Akponimisingha, Ekoi OsuobeniThe study examined relationship between motivation and teachers' Job performance in public secondary schools in Federal Capital Territory Abuja, Nigeria. Three (3) research Questions were raised with corresponding three (3) objectives and three (3) null hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. /\ cross sectional'.survey research design was used. The population of the study was 2499 teachers from 186 public secondary schools distributed within the six (6) education districts. The sample size was 239 using simple random sampling technique. One self designed structure questionnaire was used for data titled “relationship between motivation and teachers' Job performance" (RBMTJP), Validation of the instrument was done with validity index of 0.79. The coefficient of internal consistency of 0.83 was obtained after pilot testing the instrument. Descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation was used to answer the research questions while pearsons' product moment correlation coefficient (r) (PPMCC) wns used to test hypotheses 1-3 at 0.05 level of significance. One of the findings of the study revealed that there wns a significant relationship between recognition and teachers' job performance in public secondary schools in Federal Capital Territory Abuja, Nigeria. One of the recommendations of the study wns that, all school administrators should provide an avenue for recognizing teachers' effort at work place in order to ensure better job performance in public secondary schools in Federal Capital Territory Abuja.
