Item Open Access ANALYSIS OF MANPOWER DEVELOPMENT AMONG ADMINISTRATIVE STAFFS IN TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS IN NASARAWA STATE(BEING A PROJECT SUBMITTED TO THE SCHOOL OF POSTGRADUATE STUDIES, NASARAWA STATE UNIVERSITY KEFFI, IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE AWARD OF POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN MANAGEMENT (PGDM), 2017-04-09) Aiyetan, Adenike OmotaraThis study focused on the analysis of manpower development among administrative staff of tertiary institutions in Nasarawa State. . The objectives of this study are; To analyse the benefit of on-the-job training and development programmes on administrative staff of tertiary institutions, to find out the benefit of off-the-job training and development programmes on administrative staff of tertiary institutions, to identify the challenges to effective manpower development of administrative staff of tertiary institutions, to determine the measures for effective manpower training and development of administrative staff of tertiary institutions, to determine the extent manpower development has affected job performance of administrative staff of tertiary institutions. Data for this study were obtained from both primary and secondary sources. The study has a population size of 6680, out of which a sample size of 377 was realized using Taro Yamane’s statistical formula. Survey research design was adopted. Chi-square statistical test were used to test the hypotheses. To ensure that the research instruments are valid, a conduct of a pre-test of every question in the questionnaire was carried out. Findings indicate amongst that; on-the-job training increased employees capacity to adopt new technologies and methods; off-the-job training enhanced employees chances of promotion; and manpower development help increased employees output. Based on the findings, the study recommends that Statutory orientation programmes should be organized for all newly recruited administrative staff; Seminar, workshops and conferences should be organized periodically for administrative staff so as to equip them with the latest work methods and technology, and each department/unit should float financial grant/loan for the departmental unit members.Item Open Access ASSESSMENT OF THE IMPACT OF EMPLOYEE TRAINING ON ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE IN KEFFI LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF NASARAWA STATE(Department of Public Administration, Nasarawa State University, Keffi ., 2019-08-01) Aiyetan, Adenike OmotaraThis study examines the impact of training on workers performance in manufacturing companies in Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The study utilized both field and documentary research method. Data were sourced both primary and secondary. The instruments for data collection were questionnaire and interview. The sample techniques adopted for the study was simple random technique. Hypothesis was stated and tested. Tables, charts and percentages were used as method of for data presentation and analysis. Chi- square was used to test the formulated hypothesis. It was found out that one of the roles of the management of the organization is providing adequate room for employee training. It was also found out that employee acknowledge and supported the techniques adopted by the management of the organization in training employee and they also recognized the role of training in improving performance in manufacturing companies in Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. In the course of the study, it was also found out that most employees in the organization acknowledges the relationship between performance and motivation (Job Satisfaction) and that employee training influences level of effective performance in the organization. Employee needs for training should be forecasted a head of time so as to reduce the problem of sudden and rush planning which have adverse effect on organizational performances.
