    Appraisal of Islamic and Scientific Historical Context on Modern Challenges

    The paper aims to appraise the Islamic and scientific historical achievements and how they both made impact on the level of successes in the society in the mist of modem challenges. This paper adopts library research method for composing the analysis narration. The descriptive approach is the main tool in explaining the data. The study revealed that all thought not guided by true, authentic, and universal knowledge is uncertain and therefore unauthentic. The paper concludes that in Islam there is no science for the sake of science and no knowledge for the sake of knowledge. Everything is for an end which is using scientific knowledge for the good ot humanity at large

    CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS OF HAJJ OPERATIONS IN NASARAWA STATE (1996-2012)

    The word Hajj is mentioned several times in the Qur’an referring to it as a holy duty. Hajj is one of the pillars of Islam. Its obligation is established on the authorities of the Qur’anHadith and Ijma’. Thus, there is an accord among the Jurists on the obligation of Hajj at least once in a lifetime by a qualified Muslim who has the means. And as a religious duty, it has does and don’t which is guided by several rules for its observance. The purpose of this paper is to examine the general performance of Hajj operations in Nasarawa state, to make recommendations for effectiveness. The problems facing Hajj operations in Nasarawa State are many and varied. And according to valuable findings of this paper among these problems include poor funding, Limited infrastructures, lack of expertise and corruption, which is evident by poor Hajj operation in the state in recent years. And these have been blamed on the federal government that is solely responsible for contracting of the air crafts for intending pilgrims in all states of the Federation of which their services are so epileptic, not promising at all. The method for data collection employed was Interviews and Content analysis (i.e., using focus group discussion and reviewing of various hajj commissions’ reports of their operation year in year out). From the valuable findings, this paper recommends that there should be enlightenment by the state government through the use of media and all with the help of all tiers of government with the collaboration of non-governmental organizations for the proper education of does and don’t of hajj rituals been one of the pillars of Islam. Moreover, the paper recommends that the directorate of the hajj affair should hasten to see that printing and minting company to print passport on time as well as the provision of air tickets to avoid delay among others.

    The Contributions of Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) in Promoting Unity Among Muslim Ummah in Keffl Area Council of Nasarawa Area Unit

    AbstractT his paper seeks to explore the efforts of the Muslim Students' Society of Nigeria (MSSN) in Promoting Unity among the Muslim Youth. The paper surveyed the historical antecedents of the formation of MSSN in Nigeria as well as its programmers and challenges. The paper highlights the initial purpose of forming the organization which is to unite and provide opportunity for the Muslim students who were denied access to modern education by the Christian missionaries. The paper listed some of the activities of the society» towards uniting Muslim youths in particular and Muslim Ummah (community) in general, which includes the weekly meetings, visitation of hospitals, graveyards, assisting the orphans, public lectures to students and communities among others. The study discovers that, the society> was formed in order to bring all Muslims in closer union and inculcate in them the true Islamic spirit of brotherhood and absolute faith in Allah as the only basis for the achievement of peace among mankind. The paper adopts textual and analytical methodology in undertaking the study. The paper recommend tolerance among all religiousfollowers.

    FIGHTING CORRUPTION IN THE 21stCENTURY NIGERIA: LESSONS FROM THE MODEL OF CALIPH UMAR IBN AL-KHATTAB (R. A)

    Leadership is a trust given to the people by God; as such it should not be played with. Discharging the responsibilities in accordance with the divine law is required from the faithful leaders, while the followers are required to be obedient, so kind the leaders have not deviated from the path of Almighty God. The abuse of public office is rampant in Nigeria nowadays; misappropriation of the government treasury seems to be a competition among some occupants of the various offices. This paper is aimed at inculcating into the minds of the people, the present leaders, the prospective leaders and the followers to emulate the leadership style of the second caliph, Umar bin al-Khattab (R. A) in his pattern of leadership while making sure that things are done appropriately without fear or favour. Administering justice to the citizenry by the leaders and building the fear of God in them, are part of the roles played by Umar (R. A) during his reign as a commander of the faithful. In writing this paper the use of relevant literatures, ICT and the divine book of Islam as a guiding principle for the entire mankind were applied in the methodology

    HINDRANCES TO GOOD GOVERNANCE IN NIGERIA: SOLUTION FROM ISLAMIC PERSPECTIVE

    The aim of this paper is to look at those things that make good governance difficult in Nigeria and to provide solution from Islamic perspective. Good governance is generally characterized by doing what is right from the side of the leader while following due process in governing his subjects. However, if certain elements are seen as part of the government which can include breach of trust, abuse of oath of an office, discrimination based on tribal, zone or political party of the opponents or citizens, bribery and corruption and worse of all nepotism such a government is classified as bad government. The type of governance exhibited by the Seal of Prophets Muhammad (S. A. W) is an example of good governance based on divine guidance and operated with justice to all and sundry without biased. If Nigerian leaders would govern according to the provision of the constitution and their party manifesto, I believe all the hindrances to good governance can overcome. Related literatures and interview were both employed as the methodology of this research. In conclusion, leaders should see themselves first as the servants of the people and should have it at their hearts that leadership is all about sacrifice and providing good service without compromise. It is recommended that credibility should be considered when it comes to appointment and what is for a particular zone, constituency or location should be given to them without denial

    ISLAM AND GENDER DISCRIMINATION

    The paper is aimed at discussing the issue of gender discrimination and the position of Islam on it whether it is allowedf or any type of gender in the society to be treated unfairly and injustice manner based on his/her gender, when one studies Qur ’an and the Hadith of prophet (SAW) carefully he/she cannot link Islam with any attitude of discrimination, biased, maltreatment and injustice to fellow human beings including animals, insects and other creatures. But many people are discriminated in different part of the world at a contemporary time either because of their race, religion etc. It is vety essential to understand that Islam always demand justice to be done in treatment, interaction as well as passing judgments between people even if it is against one’ self parent, children or relath’es. The method used in conducting this research is the use of related literature in the library and interview, this paper is important as is would enlightened the public on the provision of Islam on doing justice to all without considering the religion such a person belong to, in this paper finding shows that people who discriminate others based on their gender did it as a result of selfishness and seeing selves as more superior and important than others. The paper concludes with some suggestions such as action should be taken against person or group of persons found discriminating against fellow human being and justice should prevail in all human interaction.

    Islam as a knowledge a number of scholars across the globe from Arabian Peninsula, Middle East, Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Australia (or Oceania), Africa and Antarctica. There is no doubt tat religion is vital and human beings are expected to put into practice what they have learnt, scholars are the ones to interpret the law and any ambiguous aspect of the divine book, without them in the society learning of religion would be difficult. Sheikh ibn Abi Zaid was one of the eminent scholar of North Africa
