Item Open Access BUDGETING AND FINANCIAL CONTROL OF SECURITY AND EXCHANGE COMMISSION (SEC) IN NIGERIA, 2015-2018(Department of Political Science, Nasarawa State University, Keffi., 2019-06-04) Adamu, Prof YahayaThis study assesses the roles of the Government to its Agencies as regards (he Security and Exchange Commission, Nigeria in the discharge of its duties as a regulatory agency. Indeed, it assesses the contributions of the regulatory body towards revamping the dwindling economy of Nigeria. The main objective of this study is to examine the impact of the budget control and implementation on the Economic Development of Nigeria. The purpose of this study is to ascertain how gov irnment can use SEC to revamp her economy that has been in shamble. The incremental model was used as a theory to guide and analyze the budgetary and financial control of the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) in revamping the dwindling economy of Nigeria. The research method employed was Survey design, using Primary and Secondary sources, like: Questionnaires. Books. Journals, Interviews, and then, complimented with Newspapers, SEC Bulletins and Newsletters. To analyze data, simple percentage was applied with Chi-scjure used for the test of hypothesis. The findings revealed that meaningful impact has not ready been made in the Economic Development of Nigeria. I he Economy is still partially in recession in Nigeria due to the fact that Budget control e nd Implementations have not been effectively and efficiently done. This could be attributed to mismanagement/ Misappropriation of Public Funds and Non-challant attitude of Government Officials in the dispensation of their duties. The study recommends that Government officials should be prudent in the utilization of Public Funds in accordance with budgetary allocations, as well as monitor how the funds are being distributed so as to get to (he intended beneficiaries. The three sectors of the economy should be concentrated upon by the government in the distribution of funds in order to generate much revenue and achieve success. Again, the government should ensure effective monitoring and evah at ion of budget so as to minimize corruption, promote transparency and accountability, and equally ensure that people derive the anticipated benefits. \. vi
