Item Open Access BOKO HARAM TERRORISM AND THE PERFORMANCE OF MULTINATIONAL CORPORATIONS IN NIGERIA(Department of Public Adminstration, Nasarawa State University Keffi, 2022-01-06) Ojem, Onuk Bulus; Adam, Othman Bala; Bashir, MohammedThe major thrust of this study is to assess the effect of terrorism on Multinational Corporation in Nigeria. The need for this study arose as a result of the perceived increase of Boko Haram activities in Nigeria. The main objective of the study is to examine Boko Haram terrorism and the performance of Multinational Corporations in Nigeria. The study adopted liberal political economy theory as the theoretical framework. The theory contends that free trade policy remains the key to national wealth and power because it encourages economic growth and competitive development. The paper adopted secondary sources of data and the data was analyzed using content analysis. The paper concluded that most of the foreign investors operating in Nigeria has abandoned their companies and run for their dear lives due to the severe attack of Boko Haram .Finally, the paper recommended that the government should open a dialogue channel to know the grievances of the sect in other to create more doors for foreign companiesItem Open Access Coronavirus Pandemic As A Threat To Lives And Livelihood: The Need For A Home Grown Solution(Department of Public Adminstration, Nasarawa State University Keffi, 2020-06-06) Adam, Othman Bala; Imam, MukhtarThe crisis of coronavirus is arguably between saving lives and protecting livelihood and everything in- between. The outbreak has definitely had a significant toll on the means of livelihood and the lives of people across board, particularly those in the low income economies and less developed societies. The paper therefore seeks to underscore the impact of the pandemic on the lives and livelihood of citizens in low income economies in particularly in Africa and highlight the need for home-grown solutions. The paper seeks to bring to fore the nexus between the coronavirus pandemic, public health and economic growth and the need for an indigenous solution. It is the submission of the paper that there couldn’t be a better time than now to look inward and find solutions to our peculiar problems. Yet as a result of human resilience man has always had to improvise and overcome these challenges as individuals and more so as collectives. Globalization has been a very strong force particularly in the 21st century and has gone on to shape the way people interact and in this case manage outbreaks of global pandemics such as the coronavirus pandemic. The paper focuses on the dynamics and intricacies underlying the impact or effect of global pandemic in the era of heightened globalism and interaction between low income economies and developed societies. It aims to underscore how health sectors in low income countries have fared in the face of the crisis amidst globalization. It finds that these countries are truly better off developing domestic policies and strengthen their respective institutions. It recommends amongst others that countries should look inwards and find solutions to such threats and by so doing the global community can become more fortified
