Item Open Access EFFECT OF INTERGOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS (IGR) ON DEVELOPMENTAL ROLES OF BAGA/ BIRNIN KUDU LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, JIGAWA STATE NIGERIA.(Department of Public Administration, Nasarawa State University Keffi, 2021-03-01) Abdul-Hamidu, Abdullahi; Abdullahi, MohammedNigeria’s Intergovernmental Relations (IGR) is a clear- cut spelled relationships constitutionally between the Federal, State and Local Government with among other aims Intergovernmental Social Service Delivery (IGSSD). The 1999 constitution outlined the revenue profile of each tier of government but the problematic is to what extent is service delivery achieved with IGR arrangement. This study interrogates the effect of the IGR on the developmental roles of Baga/ Birnin Kudu local Governmental Area. The study anchored on the fiscal federalism theory, collected data through interviews and questionnaire, while analysis was done using descriptive and inferential statistical tools. The findings include lack of autonomy; inadequate funds and continuous interference in local government administration are stumbling block to service delivery. The recommendation include need for review of policy of IGR and projects at the local government should not be only located at the urban.Item Open Access Effect of Women and Youths Skill Acquisition on Sustainable Development in Samaru area Sabon Gari Local Government, Kaduna State(Department of Public Administration, Nasarawa State University Keffi, 2019-11-20) Abdul-Hamidu, Abdullahi; Ibrahim, MusaThe study examines the effect of internal control system in terms of control environment, control activities, risk management, The continues rise in poverty and unemployment not only among women and youths in developing countries but also the developed ones necessitate the involvement of women and youths in different forms of skill acquisition programme. This paper sought to assess the effect of women and youths skill acquisition for sustainable development in Samaru area, Sabon Gari Local Government, Kaduna State. The study anchored on the Human Capital Theory uses primary data to solicit responses. Two hypotheses were stated and tested using chi-square in order to measure the level of significance between skill acquisition, poverty reduction and employment generation among women and youths. The study reveals among others, that skill acquisition has significant effect on poverty reduction and employment generation among women and youths of the area of study. The study recommend among the following; that government, non-governmental organizations and philanthropies should assist women and youths with more financial capital to enable them invest in their areas of skills. The study also recommend that women and youths who are engaged in work should inculcate the culture of savings from the proceeds which will lead to sustainable development.
