This is a confirmation of the fact that human beings have been created religiously inclined. They had to satisfy their religious craving to establish a relationship with their Creator. They built the temples, the shrines, the synagogues, the churches, and the mosques for that purpose. These places fulfilled, in one way or another, this basic task in accordance with the vision of the role of religion in life. It is in view of the above that this paper attempts to identify the role of mosque as an Islamic institution in the educational, social and political development of the people of Nasarawa State. The paper also tries to suggest ways for improving the role and function of the mosque to the Muslim communities in Nasarawa State.Item Open Access ISLAMIC THEOLOGICAL SCHOOLS OF PREDESTINATION: A CASE OF AL-JABARIYYA THOUGHT AND ITS LEGAL AND SOCIAL IMPACT ON MUSLIM LIFE(Department of Islamic Studies, Nasarawa State University Keffi, 2019-02-01) Ahmad, Gero; Abdullahi, Adamu Sulaiman; Aliyu, UmarIn the general religious theology, predestination have been a major issue for discussion among theologians. In Islam, there are basically two schools of predestination i.e. Qcidariyyah and Jabariyyah schools which in some cases are misconstrued to mean the same thing. This paper intends to discuss Jabariyyah school of thought as against Qadariyyah. The paper will discuss the branches of Jabariyyah School, the Quran Hadith as well as some scholars’ discussion on the subject. Lastly, the paper will discuss the legal and social impact of Jabariyyah School on the Muslim life. Conclusion and recommendation will subsequently follow.
